No-gi Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu for kids 4+ and adults, seven days a week in downtown Ann Arbor — 10–20 minutes from most of Washtenaw County. Members commute in from Ypsilanti, Saline, Dexter, Chelsea, Milan, and Whitmore Lake.
There's a martial arts school in almost every town. There isn't a gym like this one in every town: no-gi only, black belt instruction, and the Constraints-Led Approach — training built on live problem-solving instead of memorizing moves — for every age on the mat.
Classes run morning, noon, and night, so the drive fits around work and school instead of the other way around. First month is $49, month-to-month after, no contract.
We're at 525 E Liberty St in downtown Ann Arbor, with public parking structures a block or two away. Here's what the trip looks like from around the county.
Straight up Washtenaw Ave or a quick hop on US-23 — Ypsilanti is our biggest out-of-town contingent. Evening All Levels classes at 6:30 PM and Rounds at 7:30 make it easy to train after work and still get home at a reasonable hour.
Up State St or US-12 and you're downtown. Saline families like the kids timing: Kids 8–12 at 5:45 PM and Little Kids 4–7 at 6:00 PM — drop off, grab coffee on Liberty, and they're done in half an hour to 45 minutes.
Dexter-Ann Arbor Rd runs nearly door to door. If you work in Ann Arbor, the 6:00 AM and noon classes mean you can train around the workday and keep evenings at home — a lot of our morning regulars come from this side of the county.
I-94 to downtown is one of the easiest drives in the county. Chelsea families and adults usually anchor on the evening block — kids at 5:45–6:30, adults at 6:30 — so one trip covers the whole household.
US-23 north drops you minutes from the gym. There's no no-gi program like this closer to Milan — if you've been making do with a striking gym or a gi academy, come feel the difference a problem-solving approach makes.
Straight down US-23. Whitmore Lake and the north county are closer than they think — the noon classes are a favorite for anyone with a flexible schedule, and the 6:00 AM class beats the morning traffic entirely.
You're practically neighbors — up State St or Packard and you're on the mat. Every class time works from Pittsfield, so pick whatever fits: mornings, noon, evenings, or the weekend leg lock classes.
Scio, Superior, Ann Arbor Township, York — wherever you're driving from, the first step is the same: pick a class on the schedule and show up. Adults sign up online first; every kid's first class is free.
Ten to twenty minutes from almost anywhere in Washtenaw County — and the only training of its kind when you get here.
